Advaita scripture
Ashtavakra Geeta
Freedom stated without hesitation.
A radical dialogue between Ashtavakra and King Janaka on the witness, bondage, dispassion, and the freedom that is recognized rather than produced.
The direct instruction
मुक्तिमिच्छसि चेत्तात विषयान् विषवत्त्यज।
क्षमार्जवदयातोषसत्यं पीयूषवद्भज॥
If you desire liberation, my child, leave sense-objects like poison; cherish forgiveness, simplicity, compassion, contentment, and truth like nectar. What changes when liberation is treated as recognition rather than achievement?
Chapters 1 and 2 establish the argument: Janaka asks how freedom is known, Ashtavakra distinguishes the Self from body, mind, and doership, and Janaka replies from the shock of recognizing awareness as never bound.
